Mrs. Mary Gottschall
Mrs. Mary Gottschall, widow of Samuel Gottschall, died Sunday
morning at 3:15 o'clock at the Lock Haven hospital. She had
been ill of grippe and took a relapse, when pneumonia developed on Saturday and
she was taken to the hospital that night. Mrs. Gottschall resided with her sister, Miss
Rosena Shoemaker, East Bald Eagle street. She was a faithful member of Great
Island Presbyterian church and during her long life performed many acts of
kindness in a quiet way, by aiding the sick and afflicted and comforting the
distressed. Deceased was aged 74 years and is survived by one daughter, Miss
Elinor Gottschall, Philadelphia; two sons, Charles Gottschall, Lansing Mich., and
Arthur Gottschall, Altoona; two brothers, C.H. Shoemaker, this city; James
Shoemaker, Los Angeles, Calif.; and one sister, Miss Rosena Shoemaker.
Funeral services were conducted at the house Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock by Rev.
E.D. Parkhill and the body was taken to Altoona this morning for interment.
