Samuel Gottschall

At 11:00 A.M. yesterday morning Nov. 20, 1902, Samuel Gottschall died at his home at 974 26th Street, of stomach trouble after a lingering illness. Deceased was born in Lycombing [sic] County on Oct. 22, 1841 and had resided in Altoona for 21 years, following the occupation of plasterer. He was a member of the Broad Avenue Presbyterian Church and was esteemed by all who knew him. He was a Veteran of the Civil War, having served for three years in Company D, 19th Regt., Pa. Cavalry and nine months in Company D, 9th Pa. Volunteers. He is survived by his wife and these children: Harry, Charles, Arthur and Eleanore, all of Altoona. Also these brothers: John of North Carolina, Alexander [Abraham] of Oklahoma, Solomon of Williamsport, Jacob and Thomas of Lock Haven. The funeral will take place Saturday Afternoon with Services at the house at 2:30 o'clock. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
